Update! (Demo)

Update! is a point-and-click role-player and chore game set in a futuristic sci-fi world, with pixelated retro-style visuals.

In Update!, you, a poverty-stricken young person who comes from a rural part of the land, find yourself seeking a livelihood in Dream City, one of the largest cities–the hub of production, technology, and corporate commercial activities. In this city, a system called Smart Memory Assistant Synthetic Systems, or SMASS for short, is currently in trend. With SMASS installed, humans are able to store their memory on memory databases, and recall exactly what they need or even be reminded of what they need to remember, with the help of a smart memory assistant–the chatbot component of SMASS.

You will never be able to afford SMASS by yourself, but fortunately, you are selected for the Memory Assistant Systems Action Program (MASAP) by Next Gen Electronics Inc., which is the leading developer of SMASS technologies in Dream City. MASAP,  along with a weekly salary, provides you with subsidized housing, a work computer, and of course, your own SMASS plus hardware. You will complete daily chore tasks under the guidance of SMASS, and complete daily surveys issued by SMASS. 

As you delve deeper into the narrative, more stories surrounding Dream City and the SMASS technology start to surface. You will be given the critical choice of whether or not to install two test updates of MASAP, which may drastically change your life.
